The creation of permanent rivalries is one of my favorite aspects of the fantasy football league I'm in currently. Every year, the teams are realigned into three four-team divisions. The only team guaranteed to be in your division is a pre-selected permanent rival. A couple of the rivalries even have real-life trophies that change hands. Ours is an engraved 18 oz. stainless steel flask. The winner of the flask gets to keep it until he is defeated. The loser is also bound by tradition and honor to provide a traveler's-size bottle of the winner's favorite booze when handing over the Legendary Silver Flask.
It's a nice incentive besides the standard smack-talk to win those particular games, even if your season is already out the window. The reason I'm mentioning rivalries this week is because of my glorious 75-point flagellation of my rivals, the Federals. Life is good -- at least until we meet again week 13.
Slim Jester's team is 5-4 and he ranks first in total points in his 12-team league.

Value Up |
Position |
Player, Team |
Notes |
| QB |
Brett Favre, Vikings |
His 446-yard, 2-TD game highlights a lousy year, but does it mark a statistical up tick? |
| RB |
Willis McGahee, Ravens |
Managed 66 yards from scrimmage vs. Miami & has scored a TD in 4 of his last 5 games. |
| RB |
Clinton Portis, Redskins |
Expects to be a game-time decision Monday night, but worth a spot on your bench. |
| WR |
Nate Burleson, Lions |
8 or more targets each of the last 3 weeks & 1 TD in 3 of the last 4. |
| WR |
Sidney Rice, Vikings |
Childress says he's close to returning & will take part in about half the offense's plays. |
| TE |
Jacob Tamme, Colts |
If for some reason no one picked this guy up in your league last week, grab him now. |
| K |
Billy Cundiff, Ravens |
Averaging 11.66 PPG over his last 3 & now ranks tied for 9th among kickers with 7.62 PPG. |
| Defense |
Buccaneers |
Despite having no sacks and causing no turnovers vs. Falcons, Bucs face lousy Panthers. |
Value Down |
| QB |
Chad Henne, Dolphins |
Threw 3 INTs vs. the Ravens last week & has 10 INTs vs. only 8 TDs this season. |
| RB |
Chris Ivory, Saints |
Suffered an injured shoulder vs. Panthers & Bush could return after week 10 bye. |
| RB |
Jonathan Stewart, Panthers |
Concussed & left field on a cart last week. Highly unlikely to play vs. Buccaneers. |
| WR |
Patrick Crayton, Chargers |
When injured stars return (probably after week 10 bye), Crayton goes back to the bench. |
| WR |
Roy Williams, Cowboys |
Has not been targeted more than 4 times since week 5. Time to find someone better. |
| TE |
Brent Celek, Eagles |
Michael Vick just does not throw to this guy. 0 catches and only 1 target vs. Colts. |
| K |
Jason Hanson, Lions |
Dave Rayner will kick for 2-3 weeks while Hanson nurses a knee injury. |
| Defense |
Patriots |
Could not get a sack & forced only 1 turnover vs. rookie Colt McCoy & Browns. |
Ones to Watch |
| QB |
David Garrard, Jaguars |
Coming off a huge week vs. Dallas before his bye & now set to face the lowly Texans' D. |
| RB |
Javarris James, Colts |
Vultured 2 TDs last week & should continue to get goal-line carries as long as Addai's out. |
| RB |
Mike Goodson, Panthers |
Last man standing after injuries to DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart & Tyrell Sutton. |
| WR |
Jacoby Ford, Raiders |
The rookie from Clemson had 6 catches for 148 yards vs. Chiefs. He's off week 10. |
| WR |
Blair White, Colts |
Gonzo's on IR & Collie's likely to miss at least 1 week. Any Colts WR can be valuable. |
| TE |
Aaron Hernandez, Patriots |
Scored 2 TDs vs. Browns & was targeted by Brady 9 times. |
| K |
Lawrence Tynes, Giants |
Scored 10 or more in his last 3 games & Cowboys look like good matchup. |
| Defense |
Cardinals |
Netted 10 sacks over the last 3 weeks and face Seattle week 10. |
Chopping Block |
| QB |
Matthew Stafford, Lions |
Lions aren't talking about his shoulder yet, but reports indicate he's out for the season. |
| RB |
Mike Hart, Colts |
Surprise! His ankle is ouchy. Colts wouldn't even let him ride his bike last week. |
| RB |
Justin Forsett, Seahawks |
Lynch getting a majority of the carries; Forsett had 2 touches for 4 yards vs. Giants. |
| WR |
Kenny Britt, Titans |
Likely out the rest of the regular season & Tennessee has Moss now anyway. |
| WR |
Kevin Walter, Texans |
Has not caught a pass for 3 straight games & being outperformed by Jacoby Jones. |
| TE |
Randy McMichael, Chargers |
San Diego's bye is this week & Antonio Gates figures to return week 11. |
| K |
Stephen Gostkowski, Patriots |
Reports state he will probably be out at least 2 weeks with an injured quad. |
| Defense |
Seahawks |
Recorded zero sacks & forced only 1 turnover vs. Giants. |
Shots in the Dark |
| QB |
Shaun Hill, Lions |
Broke his arm 3 weeks ago, but could be of value if Stafford's injury is as bad as feared. |
| RB |
Kevin Smith, Lions |
Slowly being worked back into the offense & has a great week 10 matchup vs. Bills. |
| RB |
Keiland Williams, Redskins |
Has an outside chance to start vs. Eagles as Portis & Torain recover from injuries. |
| WR |
Seyi Ajirotutu, Chargers |
Probably a dicey start with Vincent Jackson & Malcolm Floyd returning soon. |
| WR |
Bernard Berrian, Vikings |
Is he finally developing a rapport with Favre? 11 targets vs. Cardinals are a positive sign. |
| TE |
Joel Dreessen, Texans |
Keep an eye on Owen Daniels this week. If he's out vs. Jaguars, Dreessen's a good play. |
| K |
David Akers, Eagles |
11.33 PPG over his last 3 games brings his season average up to 8.25 PPG. |
| Defense |
Lions |
Averaging 3.33 sacks per game over the last 3 & face the winless Bills. |
