Ohio State has confirmed a report from the Columbus Dispatch that redshirt sophomore cornerback Joshua Norwood is transferring from the program.

Norwood, from Valdosta, Georgia, played in 11 games last season as a redshirt freshman for the Buckeyes, mostly on special teams. According to the Dispatch, he could end up at Georgia Southern.

The transfer does not come as much of a surprise, as Norwood had been passed over by younger teammates in each of the last two recruiting classes. Last year, Rodjay Burns moved ahead of him as a true freshman, and this spring the Buckeyes added four more corners to the equation, each of them passing Norwood in the rotation.

A year ago, cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs said that Norwood had a long way to go before being ready to contribute defensively for the Buckeyes. And even with two open cornerback jobs this spring, Norwood was never mentioned by coaches or teammates as a viable candidate to start, or even be in the rotation.

Don't expect this to be the final piece of attrition for the Buckeyes this offseason.
