Program Reminders: We want to remind everybody that the it will all Buckeyes on Fox Sports Ohio tonight from 10:00 PM until 11:00 PM. Buckeye Preview featuring OSU assistant coach Bill Conley as guest will air at 10:00 PM, and Buckeye Classics will tell the story of the 1961 Buckeyes from 10:30 until 11:00.

the-Ozone Announcement: This is it. Today is the last day of the-Ozone's annual fund raising effort, and we'd love to end up with a bang.

The last two days have been great with our total donations surging from just under $25,000.00 to just shy of $30,000.00 in the last 48 hours.

Our goal was to meet or exceed the total of last year's fund raiser. In 2002 we collected $31,910.00. This year as of this moment we've raised $29,882.10.

We need $2027.90 more to come in today to make it. Yes, that's a lot of money, but we can get there with your help. Take the time to follow the link below and find out how and why to donate. We want to make the-Ozone a better place for you and every other Buckeye fan who visits here. With your help, we can and will do it.

Donations received by midnight tonight via credit card will make the honor roll. Donations received by Tuesday of next week via U. S. mail will also make the honor roll.

How and why to donate.

Our next update of the honor roll will be the final update on Tuesday of next week.

the-Ozone Announcement: The price of lunch took a dramatic dip.

In our 11:40 AM post of yesterday we updated you on the status of our fund raising effort for this year. If you missed it, we are going to reproduce that post right below this morning's update. The gist of the post was that with three days left in our drive we were about $6,000.00 shy of last year's fund raising total, and offered to come buy lunch for anybody who would pony up the six large to bring us up to the number from last year.

We didn't get any takers on our lunch offer, but the response was overwhelming yesterday as just a little over half of the $6,000.00 came in within the last 24 hours. Around $2,000.00 came in from various generous donors, and an extremely generous donation of $1,000.00 came in from a supporter from the state of Indiana. We'll be updating the donor list this morning. That should be done by around 11:00 AM.

Yesterday was great, but we have just two days left in our drive and are still about $3,000.00 short of last year's total. That's a lot of money in two days, but it is definitely doable. We want to continue to improve the-Ozone. To that end, this fund raiser is very important to us

Because it worked so well, below is the post we made yesterday. We hope you'll take the time to read it and act on.

And yes, the lunch offer still stands, but the price is now down to 3,000.00.

Post of October 29 11:40 AM: It has been an interesting year for the-Ozone fund raiser.

What has made this drive interesting is that while a greater number of you (by far) have participated, there has been a drop-off in the "upper categories" of donations. Last year we had a category for donors of 500.00 to 999.00 and had some names in that category. We even had some in the over 1,000.00 range. This year, we do not have anyone in those categories, so we're behind our goal.

Six thousand in three days is not impossible, but we need your help. Every donation adds up. If you can spare 10.00, we'll take it. If you can spare 50.00, let us hear from you. Oh, and if you can spare about 6,000.00, we'll personally come and pick it up and buy you lunch.

How and why to donate.

Football:

Roy HallWide receivers are supposed to be guys who run fast, jump high, and catch footballs. They're not supposed to be guys who like to run into people and knock people down. Don't tell that to OSU wide receiver Roy Hall, who kind of breaks the mold when it comes to wide receivers. Check out the-Ozone's complete report on Columns and Features.

October 30, 2003 12:30 AM

Football: It's the kind of game that Jack Park has made a career out of. This week's matchup between Penn State and OSU has a bit of history, and recent history at that, that makes it an interesting matchup. Check out the complete story on Columns and Features.

October 29, 2003 11:50 PM

Football: There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal. The Nitanny Lions will enter the game this weekend with a surprising 2-6 record, but the Buckeyes think they are anything but dead...just wounded...and dangerous. Check out the complete story on Columns and Features.

October 29, 2003 5:40 PM

Football: The-Ozone has obtained a copy of the police report regarding the Louis Irizarry incident. Here is a synopsis of the police report. Please note these are allegations at this point, not proven facts:

The incident occurred in Park Hall where his girlfriend, Christina Cook, resides. Irizarry and Cook had earlier been heard to be arguing at Irizarry's room at Morrison Tower. Cook left Morrison to go home and Irizarry followed her to her dorm.

A student, David Laudenslager, was in her room heating pizza, and Irizarry came into the room and hit Laudenslager with his right fist knocking him down and unconscious and possibly fracturing a bone. The blow caused Laudenslager's entire body to twist as he fell and he struck a refrigerator as he fell to the floor. Witnesses said that no words were exchanged between Laudenslager and Irizarry prior to the incident.

The girl friend then tried to calm Irizarry by putting her arms around his neck. Witnesses say he shoved her and she struck a wall and knocked over a coffee pot. He then left the room, and on the way out, hit a bystander in the hallway, a Mr. Blake Buhl, with his fist causing him to collapse to the floor. Buhl was examined at University hospitals with a lacerated lip which required several sutures. Cook again tried to calm Irizarry and he is reported to have again thrown her into a wall.

We stress that these are allegations at this point, not proven facts.

October 29, 2003 3:45 PM

Football:

Louis IrizarryOhio State football coach Jim Tressel has suspended tight end Louis Irizarry from game competition indefinitely following an altercation Monday night that resulted in assault charges being filed against the Buckeyes' freshman receiver.

"Louis will not be allowed to travel or compete in any games until this matter has gone through the legal process and been resolved at the university level," Tressel said.

Ohio State Director of Athletics Andy Geiger added Irizarry will be required to undergo counseling before being allowed to return to game competition.

the-Ozone Announcement: It has been an interesting year for the-Ozone fund raiser.

We've just updated the Help the-Ozone to the Next Level Fund Raising Honor Roll and the thing that we noticed is that more of you than ever before have elected to support us with a donation. For that we are extremely grateful.

That being said, we are just three days from the end of our annual drive and still just under 6,000.00 short of last year's total. To meet that goal we need to average 2,000.00 per day for the next three days. That's a pretty tough assignment.

What has made this drive interesting is that while a greater number of you (by far) have participated, there has been a drop-off in the "upper categories" of donations. Last year we had a category for donors of 500.00 to 999.00 and had some names in that category. We even had some in the over 1,000.00 range. Program Reminder: Buckeye classics focuses on one of the most controversial seasons in all of Buckeye history this week, the story of the 1961 Buckeyes; who were unbeaten, ranked number one, had destroyed Michigan, yet were denied the Rose Bowl by the university's faculty council. The decision sparked two days of campus protests and cost the Buckeyes a shot at the national title.

the-Ozone Announcement- This will be the last week of the-Ozone's 2003 fundraising effort. Friday of this week will be the last day of our drive this year.

Last week was pretty good week, with contributors taking our total raised over the $24,000.00 mark. With five days left to go, however, we need to raise an additional 7,000.00 to match last year's total of about $31,000.00.

As we told you last week, our income from advertising and merchandise sales is just short of what it takes to run the-Ozone. The fund raiser is what puts us in the black and allows us to make improvements in the Site. It is very important to us.

Those of you have been waiting for the last minute to contribute have just five days to get on the honor roll as participants in this year's fund raiser. We want to continue to make the-Ozone better and better. We cannot do it without your help. Won't you please take the time to make a contribution and help us out?

Lydell Ross (top, left) rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries and wide receiver Santonio Holmes (bottom, left) had six catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns as the Buckeyes routed the Hoosiers by a final of 35-6 before a sellout crowd in a rainy Bloomington, Indiana.

The Buckeyes outgained the Hoosiers 603 net yards to 131. The Buckeye defense limited Indiana to minus 12 yards rushing on the afternoon.

the-Ozone Announcement: Wow. We're not sure what it was, but many of you chose to respond to our announcement yesterday about our fund raiser. We are grateful to all of you who have responded to our fund raising effort this year to date.

We have just seven days left in this year's campaign. To date, we have raised a little over $22,000.00. That's great, but still about 9,000.00 short of what we raised last year.

As we said yesterday, our income from ad sales and merchandise sales is just a bit shy of our expenses. The fund raiser is what keeps us solvent and allows us to make improvements in this Web Site. There are a lot of things we want to do to improve the Site, but the harsh reality is that it requires M-O-N-E-Y. Your help is appreciated.

He stopped 47-of-48 MSU shots on the weekend for a save percentage of .979.

Football: It is a very strange situation. The Buckeye offense has been disappointing at best, but the Buckeyes are still 6-1 and in the hunt for the Big Ten championship. The bad news is that there is an even bigger slew of you out there that have not yet gotten into the act. October 21, 2003 8:55 AM

the-Ozone Announcement: We conducted a little experiment last week. The results were less-than positive.

We wanted to find out if our fund raiser would maintain its momentum if we didn't mention it here very much. Well, we found out that you all need some reminders, because we barely mentioned our fund raiser and as a result, not many of you made contributions.

We have just over one week left, and because of the slowdown last week, we're now well short of our goal of matching last year's fund raiser, so brace yourself during this last week or so, we're going to hammer on you.

The Next Level Honor Roll has been updated for receipts through yesterday.

We are about $13,000.00 shy of last year's total, so over the next 10 days or so that are left in our drive we have to average about 1,300.00 per day to meet our goal. That means that if you've been thinking about making a donation, NOW is the time to act. If you haven't been thinking about it, please follow the link and at least consider helping us out.
